Triumph in Unison: History-Making Achievement, Triplets Jean, Jeanet, and Jeanice Stephensons Graduate Together with Nursing Degrees
In a remarkable feat, the 23-year-old black triplets, Jean, Jeanet, and Jeanice Stephensons, have recently etched their names in history by simultaneously earning Bachelor of Science degrees in Nursing from South University in Montgomery, Alabama. The sisters, deeply inspired by their mother’s seasoned nursing career, not only share a strong familial bond but also a collective commitment to pursuing careers in healthcare.
The journey of the Stephensons toward becoming nurses began with a shared passion and a desire to uphold a family tradition. The triplets attribute their interest in nursing to their mother, who served as a significant source of inspiration from an early age. Their close-knit upbringing played a crucial role in fostering a strong bond, seamlessly translating into their academic pursuits.
Enrolling in nursing school concurrently offered the sisters a unique advantage. Jeanice emphasized the benefits of their triplet connection, stating, “If one person doesn’t know something, you can go to the other, and maybe they’ll explain it a little better.” Jean added, “We motivate each other, help each other, make sure everyone is passing and learning at the same pace.”
The sisters also revelled in the enjoyable aspects of their identical looks, often leading to amusing mix-ups and challenges for teachers and students attempting to distinguish them. Jeanet shared, “Sometimes we do play tricks on people. We do get confused a lot.”
Despite graduating together, the Stephensons have distinct career paths within the nursing field. Jeanet aspires to work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Jean is interested in pediatrics or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Jeanice aims for the Emergency Room (ER). Nevertheless, they share a common dream of eventually working together in the same hospital.
Their graduation on December 7th marked the culmination of a challenging yet rewarding journey, filled with late nights, countless exams, and demanding clinicals. The sisters expressed gratitude for the support they received and the valuable lessons learned, as they stand ready to embark on fulfilling careers, making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
