Canada Retains One of the World’s Most Powerful Passport in 2024

World’s Most Powerful Passport in 2024: Despite trailing behind its American counterpart, Canada still holds one of the world’s most powerful passports in 2024.

Passport Index, which is an interactive passport ranking tool, released its annual Global Passport Power Rank for 2024, in which Canada is part of the seventh-highest grouping, which it shares with countries such as Malta, Lithuania, Slovenia, Estonia, and Australia.

Passports of the 193 UN member states and six territories (ROC Taiwan, Macao (SAR China), Hong Kong (SAR China), Palestinian Territory, and the Vatican) were assessed for their Mobility Score (MS), or their ease of travel elsewhere. This is based on visa-free and visa-on-arrival privileges.

According to the Index, Canada passport holders have a mobility score of 173, with visa-free access to 124 countries, visa-on-arrival for 49 countries, and ETA for 7 countries.

Canadians would also need visa to visit 25 countries before arrival, such as China, Syria, Egypt, and the Russian Federation.

Canada’s rank is below that of the United States for this ranking, which made group six (MS 174), and the United Kingdom (MS 175), which made group five.
