A grant for doctoral studies is offered by the Doctoral School of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) for each new entry into its own doctoral programmes (not interuniversity programmes).
Obtaining a doctoral thesis grant from the UOC – Doctoral School requires the student to be exclusively dedicated to the project and to be physically present at the university’s facilities. Normally, the grants last for three years, and they are renewable annually as long as the students meet the learning and research objectives set forth in each case.
Its headquarters are in Barcelona and it has more than 80,000 students a year. The UOC is an accredited online university with headquarters in Barcelona. The UOC welcomes students seeking to develop their research in an international environment, with highly qualified colleagues, and in programmes that adhere to the Bologna Process.

In accordance with the UOC contract, grant holders with predoctoral contracts will be entitled to all employment and social security benefits.
