How to Calculate Points for Canada PR?

Understanding the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)

How to Calculate Points for Canada PR: Designed by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the CRS framework evaluates candidates within the Express Entry pool. Periodic draws are conducted with minimum score thresholds, and those above the threshold are invited to apply for permanent residency.

The CRS awards a total of up to 1,200 points to candidates. These points are divided into several categories, each focusing on different aspects of the candidate’s profile:

1. Core Factors

Also known as Human Capital, this category is worth up to 500 points for single applicants or 460 points for applicants with spouses or common-law partners. It assesses the individual’s age, education, English and/or French language proficiency, and Canadian work experience.

2. Spouse or Common-Law Partner Factors

For those with a spouse or common-law partner, up to 40 additional points can be gained from this category, evaluating the spouse’s education, language proficiency, and Canadian work experience.

3. Skill Transferability Factors

This section is worth up to 100 points. It combines two or more core factors to assess how well the candidate’s skills transfer to the Canadian economy. Factors considered include education, foreign work experience, and a certificate of qualification in a trade.
