Targeted Express Entry Latest Draw for Trade Occupations


On July 4, 2024, Canada invited 1,800 Express Entry candidates in a category-based draw targeting Trades workers. This marks the second Trades Occupation Express Entry draw for 2024 and is the largest Trades Occupations draw ever. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off for this draw was a low 436 points.

This marks the first Trades Occupation Express Entry draw for 2024 and is the largest Trades Occupations draw ever. The latest draw took place on December 19, 2023, issuing 1,000 invitations with a cut-off score of 425 CRS.

Targeted Express Entry for Skilled Trades Occupations

Skilled trade occupations in Canada encompass a wide range of fields, requiring specialized knowledge, technical expertise, and practical experience. To be considered in these rounds, skilled tradespeople must qualify under the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

Eligibility Requirements for Targeted Express Entry Draw in 2024

Sean Fraser, Canada’s Minister of Immigration, announced the finalized categories for category-based selection in Canada’s immigration system on May 31st. The Canadian parliament enacted Bill C-19 in June, and it subsequently became law. The selected categories for category-based selection are as follows:

  • French-language proficiency
  • Healthcare Occupations
  • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) occupations
  • Skilled Trade occupations
  • Transport occupations (including Truck Drivers)
  • Agriculture and agri-food occupations

You must also meet all the eligibility requirements for one of the three economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, or the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
