Veterans Day Activities for Elementary Students

Veterans Day is observed on November 11th, and was originally called Armistice Day to commemorate the truce that helped end World War I. Today, Veterans Day honors the experiences and contributions of service members during times of war and peace.

In the United States alone, there are over 18 million military veterans. That means there’s a good chance your school has an educator or a student’s relative who served or is serving in the armed forces. In your class, there could even be a student from a military family who has been impacted by their caregiver’s service.

If you’re wondering how to teach your students about Veterans Day, explore these Veterans Day activities, digital resources, and interactive crafts.
